Plastering Course.

Our initial one week's plastering course will firstly and fore mostly introduce you to our centre, and after a brief introduction and safety talk you are thrown into the deep end with a hawk and trowel in one's hand!

You will have an enjoyable and rewarding experience at our centre and also meet new friends and a quite often new business partners for those of you who have small works in mind after leaving us.

On your first day you will learn to identify, firstly, tools of your trade, materials that you will use during your stay and of course after you leave with your new skills. You will initially coat and prepare your bay walls with PVA as to accept your base coat of Thistle Bonding plaster and you will manage this all in a days work!

Our bays are real life size and require the use of scaffold as some centres have you being able to plaster a ceiling from the floor! This doesn't happen in real life so our ceilings are 2.4 metres high to be as real as you can, Our bays range from 3 metres by 3 metres to slightly smaller for our petite plasters.

We will have you applying your first coats of finishing plaster by midweek and you will then see your project come to life. If you manage to complete these tasks within a week we will set a repair scenario for you and see what you have learned.

Advanced Plastering,

In the following weeks after the initial basic course material, You may wish to follow this new skill you have acquired and put it to use, say a change of career or the pathway to a new job.

The areas that would be covered are what most of us tradesmen and woman would require to sustain a career in general plastering, therefore we cover areas including cement rendering, roughcasting, ames taping, maintenance and patching of walls and ceilings.

We also concentrate on ability, style and also speed, which is an important area to be considered when using plasters.

Your stay with us at plasterclass will be intensive so deep heat would be a good addition to medicine cabinet as a few aches and pains will surface! But as the old saying goes "no pain no gain"

Our theory part of the training coincides with the practical training as we do not believe in continually stopping you as you work as we can talk while you work. There is plenty of time to take notes as we train, or in between coats of plaster, when you have time to compose yourself.

But finally you will have an enjoyable time here at plasterclass and listen to some good crack and hopefully leave your mark as another one of our success stories, as many before you have already.

So thank you for your interest and hope to be teaching you soon to your new career.
